Community Support

Cherian Foundation extends a helping hand for the cause of an inclusive community: a community that accepts and encourage the working women, the orphans, the aged, the differently abled, children from broken homes, victims of natural disasters etc. Apart from supporting and contributing to other charitable institutions, The Cherian Foundation also runs a crèche for the benefit of the women factory workers with young children. The ‘Benjamin Cherian Rotary Club of Madras Residential Block’ at Boys Town, Gummidipoondi, sponsored by the TCF Managing Trustees was inaugurated in 2014 as part of CREATE. The boys at the residential facility hail from low-income families, many being affected by communal discrimination, domestic tribulations. They are often victims of abuse, alcoholism, poor nutrition and health. Away from the disruptive domestic influences, the young boys at the facility are given due attention, mentored, taught discipline and also to look beyond their immediate needs, their surroundings and are made aware of their civic and social responsibilities. There is also a significant progress in their academic performance. This facility nurtures them positively with good health, adequate attention, social responsibilities, career counselling, and assistance for higher education. The block is well lit and ventilated with modern kitchen, dining hall, well equipped toilets, comfortable bunk beds and individual locker facilities for a comfortable stay for the boys.
